At lancepoint; a foc i destral
Seeing the castle in flames, the Saracens tried to surrender, but the king refused and they all burnt to death. Those who fled were quickly killed or forced back at lancepoint, and twenty-two thousand infidels perished on that day.
Tirant lo Blanc, Johns Hopkins Paperbacks (1996), ISBN 9780801854217; How the hermit king vanquished the Saracens, p. 29.
I Emília Abeyà, d’Esparreguera (Baix Llobregat), ens diu: «La meva mare deia, amb aquest mateix sentit: a foc i destral».
